Benjie was born and raised in the Bay Area. At the age of 10, he started playing the drums. In 1996, he graduated from Berklee College of Music, with a Bachlor’s Degree in World Percussion. He is the co-founder of Art & Soul School of Performing & Creative ARTS. Since 1996, Benjie has been teaching, recording, and performing across the country. His band, Five A.M. has toured throughout the Western United States, performing with the bands Train, Dishwalla, and Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers). In addition, Five A.M. has also performed for the Sony Corporation, at the Sundance Film Festival and the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA. Benjie focuses on beginner drumset and world percussion including congas, bongos, djembe, hand percussion and cajon.
