Hi, my name is Courtney! Since 2021 I’ve been teaching art classes, summer camps, and the preschool program with Art & Soul. I also work as the Outreach Coordinator for Art & Soul’s contracts with different school programs in Sonoma and Napa counties. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UC Santa Cruz in 2017 and I am currently working towards my certification in Child Development.
As an educator, my main goal is to support chidren as they develop and express their unique individual perspectives as humans and artists. I believe that teaching children how to safely try new things, take creative risks, and trust in their own decision-making will help them to grow confident in themselves. I want to teach children to connect with their classroom communities and value the diverse qualities that make each person special, ultimately cultivating their empathy and creativity as they grow up in this big world!
When I’m in the classroom, I usually have a song in my heart and a dance in my pants. I love to watch my students try out new and unusual ideas – I think each student’s imagination is so special. Nurturing it with a silly, funky fresh attitude is the most important thing in the world for me!
