Dave

Dave received his formal education in classical music at the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in harmony, theory, piano performance, composition, choir, violin and other subjects. He first began teaching young adults in Harmony, Theory, and piano when he was 19 years old in the town where he grew up. Since high school, Dave Holt had been setting his poetry to music and this led to his move to California to try and succeed as a songwriter. He played and recorded with several music acts in the SF Bay Area and wrote music for the theater on piano and guitar. When he first left “the road,” he continued teaching adult beginners in Santa Rosa and was pianist and second vocalist for a club/hotel band in the area for ten years. He and his wife Chappell have collaborated on composing, studio recording and performance since the 1980’s. They perform their original songs and have toured the West Coast several times to promote their 2 CD recordings (available on YouTube under Chappell and Dave Holt). He currently teaches students of all ages from kindergarten to retirees, approximately 30 students in the East Bay, in piano and music theory and organizes their performance recitals.
