Musician
Instruments: Clarinet, Flute, Piano, Recorder, Sax
Teaches in: Contra Costa County
The first instrument I learned to play was piano. I remember crawling up onto the bench and learning to read music before I could read books. Interests changed, a child grew up, but the piano was always there.
Elementary school brought the recorder in 5th grade and the flute in 6th grade. I discovered a passion for
playing and performing with my friends. We created flute choirs, trios, duets, whoever was available to play.
My high school band performed in the Rose Parade, at a 49ers Halftime show, and many other concerts and parades.
As an adult I have to continued to play at home and in community bands. Branched out into the saxophone and have had a lot of fun with a saxophone quartet.
About 10 years ago I had the opportunity to teach beginning band to elementary school students in Fremont.
Quickly picked up a used trumpet, clarinet and trombone and taught myself to play them so I could teach the
students. And most recently have branched into teaching piano again as well.
