Johnny is a multi-instrumentalist and composer across a variety of genres.
Starting at nine years old, he learned baritone and euphonium. A couple years later, he started playing cello which led to him teaching himself upright and electric bass then eventually guitar and baritone saxophone. Throughout middle school he played in the Windsor String Orchestra and in high school, he was a student under Artquest’s music department at Santa Rosa High School eventually being a part of the string orchestra, wind bands, and choir. Now a student at Santa Rosa Junior College pursuing a mechanical engineering degree, he is a part of the JC’s chamber choir and orchestra.
Having been both classically trained theory in school and most of his instruments being self taught, Johnny believes heavily in learning by doing while and having fun while learning. He will jump at any opportunity to perform and wants to inspire that same excitement in anyone who interested.
Outside of music, he loves tinkering, is a member of local AAPI communities as a Japanese-American, is passionate about queer arts, and you can easily find him running around the city, the track, or a trail.
