Tika

Tika Moon is a trained professional singer with an emphasis in theatre, dance, flute and guitar.  Tika can seamlessly go from jazz, to blues, to belting out a rock song or sweetly singing a lullaby. With over 30 years of performing experience, she has an almost 3 octave range and sings a variety of genres of music.  She has her own style which  has been influenced by jazz, blues, pop, rock, Americana and country.Tika started out at the wee age of 8 learning to play the clarinet, which she disliked, so she switched to the flute. After years of band, jazz, band and marching band, she finally got the nerve to sing in front of someone and she auditioned for the high school musical. While her audition was less than stellar due to nerves, she landed a role in the ensemble. After that, she realized that being on the stage was more important than being in the orchestra.

Tika’s senior year in high school was compiled of all the arts she could fit in: Show Choir, Concert Choir, Band, Marching Band and she had the honor of being the Drum Major as well.  Along the way she dabbled in other instruments and learned to play the piccolo, bells as well as a little piano, percussion, and saxophone.  After extensive training in college to be a professional performer and/or music teacher, she went on to be an actress and singer for Bay Area theatre companies in over 40 productions and counting.

Now that Tika had accomplished so much in the world of theater, she wanted to turn to her dream of being in a band.  She realized that she wanted to create her own unique sound and style, so she would need to create her own band. Tika took up learning another instrument, this time the guitar. With this skill she would become a self sufficient performer and be able to sing where and when she wanted to.  All of her musical training and experience have led to her having a clear vision with her performances.

To bring seniors music, is to transport them back in time. Songs bring out emotions and feelings of different times and places, and to see how one song can change a person, is pretty magical.
